Repo Rate at 5.25%: What Should Borrowers Do Now?
A policy pause does not mean borrowers should stop reviewing their loans. The repo rate is only one component influencing the interest rate ultimately paid — actual borrowing costs also depend on the applicable benchmark, the lender's spread, the borrower's credit profile and loan vintage.
WHY IT MATTERS
For existing borrowers, this can be a useful time to compare the effective interest rate on their current loan with prevailing lending offers. Where a meaningful difference exists, consider discussing repricing with your lender or evaluating a balance transfer — factoring in all associated costs.
